In the Historic Triangle between the ancient ‘Zuiderzee’ towns of Hoorn and Medemblik steamtrams meander from village to village passing windmills and rich farmhouses on this typical, flat Dutch countryside. A connecting historic steamer sails along the coast of Lake IJsselmeer to the old town of Enkhuizen and its famous open-air museum. In April and May, the countryside between Hoorn and Medemblik changes into a colourful carpet covered with large numbers, yellow, white, purple and orange bulbfields.
Our excursions include Hoorn some 35 km from Amsterdam Hoorn is a picturesque town located next to the large Markermeer waterway. It’s full of historical buildings and monuments, but also museums, shops, cafés and Volendam, this authentic Dutch village is located in the western part of the Netherlands, in the region called Waterland. Volendam offers history & excellent cafes and bars along with traditional Edam cheese producers.
