NOTE you may be asked for operational reasons to join at one of our other joining points Please note that our main coach does not collect at all places, we operate a feeder service to join the main coach to reduce the picking up and setting down times. The Northumberland coast is best known for its wide, sweeping beaches, backed by high sand dunes that are punctuated by dark whinstone outcrops. Amidst this striking landscape is the evidence of an area steeped in history, covering 7000 years of human activity.

 

Lidisfarne - Follow in the footsteps of saints to the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, founded by St Aidan in 635 AD in which the Lindisfarne Gospels were written. The existing ruins are the remains of the priory re-established in Norman times as a Benedictine monastery which came to ruin in 1536 under Henry VIII.

 

Beamish - a world famous open air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s and 1950s. Beamish Museum was founded in 1970 by Frank Atkinson to preserve the region’s heritage for future generations. Frank found inspiration from Scandinavian folk museums and wanted to build a museum to bring the region’s history to life.
